Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman was born on 31 January 1971 in a respectable Muslim family in Baraipara village under Shailkupa Upazila of Jhenaidah district. His father was the late Sheikh Md. Israel Hossain and his mother is Begum Rokeya.
He began his education in his home district, Jhenaidah. He passed the SSC examination in 1987 and the HSC examination in 1989 under the Jessore Education Board. Later, he enrolled in the Department of Law at the University of Dhaka, where he successfully obtained his LL.B (Honours) and LL.M degrees.
Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman was enrolled as an advocate with the Bangladesh Bar Council in 1995. In 1996, he was enrolled as an advocate of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court. In 1997, he became a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association. In 2005, he was enrolled as an advocate of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, and in 2023, he was enrolled as a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court.
At the beginning of his career, he worked with then-advocate and later Justice Nizamul Huq Nasim. In 1998, he joined as a junior to the renowned lawyer Barrister Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed. Later, he became a partner at Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates, the law chamber established by Barrister Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed. Through his talent, skill, and dedication, he quickly achieved success in the legal profession, gaining special expertise in writ, tax, company, and civil law.
Alongside his legal career, he played an active role in the politics of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He was elected as the Human Rights Affairs Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee. He also served as a Human Rights Advisor to the then Acting Chairman of BNP, Mr. Tarique Rahman. He was also elected as the General Secretary of the Executive Committee of the prominent human rights organization Ain o Salish Kendra.
Following the mass uprising of students and the public in July–August 2024, he was appointed as the 17th Attorney General of Bangladesh on 8 August 2024. He served in this role successfully for approximately one year and five months, actively contributing to the establishment of the rule of law and justice.
He contested in the 13th National Parliamentary Election from constituency no. 81, Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa), as a BNP-nominated candidate and was elected as a Member of Parliament with a landslide victory, securing 173,381 votes, while his nearest rival received 57,055 votes. He took oath as a Member of Parliament on 17 February 2025. On the same day, he was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman and assumed responsibility as the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
In his personal life, Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman is married and a father of two daughters. His spouse, Mrs. Shirin Sultana, is a teacher. His elder daughter, Anjoli Zaman (Kotha), is studying law at a university in England, and his younger daughter, Adhora Zaman, is studying at an educational institution in Bangladesh.
